Scholarships are sanctioned to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes students as per government rules. It is compulsory for the students to apply for scholarship within 15 days of their seeking admission in the college. The application form may be obtained from the clerk concerned by showing the fee deposit receipt. The onus of difficulties, or deprivation from scholarship is of the students if they are unable to compete the scholarship related formalities within the prescribed time frame.

General Rules of Scholarships for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Students

  1. Income limit
    1. Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes: Scholarship and full non-recurring assistance up to an income of Rs 1,00,000 per year
    2. Backward Classes: Scholarship will be sanctioned on merit basis up to an income of Rs 1,00,000 per year. Students will be issued scholarship application form after showing income certificate and fee deposit receipt.
  2. Income certificate issued by the tehsildar will be accepted in original.
  3. Attested photocopy of the caste certificate issued by the tehsildar will be recognised.
  4. Attested and self signed photocopy of the permanent marks-sheet of the last examination passed.
  5. New Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Backward Classes students will open their savings account with Oriental Bank of Commerce, Chandausi.
  6. If there is a gap between the last examination passed and class of admission, an affidavit attested by the notary must be enclosed.
  7. While depositing the scholarship application form, the students must bring the bank passbook, so the account number may be entered on the application form.
  8. Students applying for scholarship are advised to remain in touch with the counter concerned so mistakes, if any, in their forms may be rectified as soon as possible.
  9. Disabled students or children of disabled parents will be sanctioned a scholarship of Rs 125 per month in undergraduate classes and Rs 175 per month in postgraduate classes. Monthly income limit under this scheme is Rs 2,000.

If a student is irregular in the college or abstains or misbehaves with any teacher or employee or participates in any such act which is against the rules of the college or the fame of the college or mounts any undue pressure for getting scholarship, action will be taken against him as per rules (subject to modification as per government directives)

Other Scholarships Provided by the College

Eligible students conducting themselves in a proper way are given the following scholarships. For obtaining the college scholarships, the students will be required to take the next university examination fully, otherwise they would have to return the scholarship amount.

  1. Out of the rent accruing from shops and houses of SM College every year two such meritorious students will be given scholarships as have obtained highest marks in postgraduation part I examination. The student topping the examination will be given Rs 600 and the second position holder will be given Rs 400 as scholarship.
  2. Prof SN Bisaria Memorial Scholarship. In the memory of the former head of the political science department, his wife provides the following scholarships:
    1. Rs 150 to the student who has obtained maximum marks as regular student in political science subject in BA Second Year and has been admitted to BA Third Year.
    2. Student obtaining maximum marks in MA Part I (Political Science) and has sought admission in MA Part II of the same subject.
  3. Shri Harivansh Singh Sisaudia Memorial Scholarship: An alumnus of this college, Dr Samar Singh Sisaudia, a resident of Hathras, provides scholarship of Rs 1,000 to such student who has taken admission in the BA/B Sc/B Com First Year with maximum marks in Intermediate examination to perpetuate memory of his father Late Harivansh Singh Sisaudia.
  4. Gold medal is awarded by the former student and international famed Hindi poet Dr Kunwar Bechain to the student securing maximum marks in MA Part I and Part II in the memory of his father Late Shri Jung Bahadur Saxena and Late Shri Rai Bahadur Saxena.


Regular students of the college who get maximum marks in the university examination and get first division at least are awarded with Gold Medals every year.
